About Us

The Environmental Information System (ENVIS Centre) at ITRC is a network partner with the focal point at the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India, New Delhi. Established in January 1984, this Centre, one of the earliest, functions in the area of toxic chemicals. In association with MoEnF and other ENVIS centers it builds up a repository of information and its dissemination.

Vision: To be a leader in dissemination of sound information on toxic chemicals to scientists, research workers, regulatory agencies, policy planners and other users ensuring safe use of chemicals.

Activities: Information retrieving, development, organization and dissemination. Publication of Newsletter, bibliographic information.

Achievements: A CD ROM database on toxicity profiles of more than 500 chemicals relevant to the country.

Services: Query response service; public awareness through various media ---- printing and distribution of posters, pamphlets etc on environmental issues.
